Swansea Marina and Kilvey Hill, Swansea
Online lessons

Online Spanish lessons, anywhere in Wales or the UK.

Over Zoom, with a shared document that builds up week by week and stays yours. Most of my A-Level students end up preferring it to meeting in person.

  • Shared notes you keep and can revise from
  • No travel time either side of the lesson
  • Evening and weekend slots easier to find

Why it works

Online is not a compromise

Notes that accumulate

Everything we cover goes into one shared document. By exam season you have a revision resource built from your own mistakes.

No travel

An hour is an hour, not an hour plus two car journeys. That makes weekly lessons far easier to sustain through a busy term.

Easier scheduling

More evening and weekend availability, and lessons can be moved more readily when something comes up.

Recorded speaking

Speaking practice can be recorded and played back, which is the fastest way to hear your own progress.

What you need

Nothing complicated

A laptop or tablet with a camera, a reasonable internet connection, and somewhere reasonably quiet. Headphones help with listening work but are not essential. I send a Zoom link before each lesson and the shared document link once, at the start.

For students under sixteen I am happy for a parent to be within earshot, and many prefer it. Whatever arrangement makes you comfortable is fine by me.

Common questions

Frequently asked

Is online as effective as face to face for GCSE?

For most students yes, and for written and grammar work it is arguably better because everything is captured in the shared document. Speaking practice works fine over video, and being able to record and replay it is a genuine advantage.

Do you teach outside Swansea?

Yes. Online lessons go anywhere in Wales or the UK. In-person lessons are limited to Swansea and the immediate area.

What if the connection drops?

It happens occasionally. We pick up where we left off, and if a lesson is badly disrupted I will make the time up rather than charge for it.

Which platform do you use?

Zoom by default, with a shared Google Doc alongside. If your household already uses Teams or Meet I can work with those instead.
